Olivier Award winner Paul Clarkson will play Alfie Byrne when the Union Theatre’s production of Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens’ A Man of No Importance transfers to the West End next month, running February 9 – 27 at the Arts Theatre. Ben De Wynter directs.
The musical focuses on a poetry-loving Dublin bus conductor (Clarkson) who spends his free time as director of the local community theater and on the scandal which erupts when he attempts to stage Oscar Wilde’s Salome in the parish hall of a neighborhood church.
The company also features Roisin Sullivan, Anthony Cable, Paul Monaghan, Jamie Honeybourne, AJ O’Neill, Joanna Nevin, Ruth Berkeley, Kimberly Ensor, Emily Juler, Nicola Redman, Niall Sheehy, Daniel Maguire, Patrick Joseph Kelliher, Barra Collins, and Adam Davenport.
The creative team includes Phyllida Crowley-Smith (choreography), Christopher Peake (musical direction), and James Turner (production design).
