The nominations for the 2010 South Bank Show Awards have been announced. The honors will be presented in a ceremony to be held on January 26 at the Dorchester in London.

Sir Ian McKellen will present The Times Breakthrough Award, with nominees including playwright Lucy Prebble, whose play Enron will be seen on Broadway in the spring, and actress Carey Mulligan, from An Education, who have both been nominated as artists who have come to the fore in theater and film respectively.

In the theater category, three productions have been nominated: the Donmar Warehouse’s production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, the Royal Court’s staging of Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem, and the National Theatre’s production of Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art. The nominees also include Julie McNamara, Jenny Sealey, and the theater company Clean Break all of whom are competing for the Arts Council England’s Diversity Award.
