Benedictus to Replace Plonter in Theater J Season

Theater J will present Motti Lerner's Benedictus in the Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater, March 14-29, with direction by Rahaleh Nassri.

This production will replace the company's planned production of Plonter by Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv, which has been postponed by the Israeli troupe because of the current economic climate.

Lerner's piece was created in an Iran-Israel-US collaboration with Mahmood Karimi-Hakak, Motti Lerner, Roberta Levitow, Daniel Michaelson, and Torange Yeghiazarian. The play opens on the last 72 hours before a scheduled US attack on Iran, where two estranged childhood Iranian friends, one Jewish and one Muslim, agree to a secret meeting in a Benedictine monastery in Rome in an attempt to find an alternative to war.
