Ruth Gottschall, Justin Lawrence Hall, Steve Rosen, et al. Set for Goodspeed Musicals’ James and the Giant Peach

Goodspeed Musicals has announced casting for the new musical version of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, to run October 21 – November 21 at The Norma Terris Theatre. Graciela Deniele will direct the production, which will have choreography by Michael Tracy and music direction by Chris Fenwick.

With music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Timothy Allen McDonald, the musical follows a boy who, shipped off to live with his wretched aunts, longs for a real family and a new home, but his feelings change when he discovers a magical giant peach filled with a mix of fantastical creatures.

The company will feature Justin Lawrence Hall in the title role, along with Ruth Gottschall (Spiker), Denny Dillon (Sponge), Steve Rosen (Marvo the Magician), Nick Gaswirth (Centipede), Chelsea Kromback (Mrs. Trotter/ Ladybug), Destan Owens (Earthworm), and Jim Stanek (Mr. Trotter/Green Grasshopper).

The ensemble will include Jessica Hershberg, Marissa Lindsay Palley, Nicholas Park, and Kate Wetherhead, and Minami Yusui and along with Pilobolus dancers Otis Cook, Edwin Olvera, Roberto Olvera, Annika Sheaff, Holly Shunky, and Derek Stratton. One additional dancer will be announced at a later date.

The creative team will include scenic designer Chris Barreca and lighting designer Stephen Strawbridge. Sam Davis will provide dance arrangements.
