For the Boys Musical to Receive World Premiere at Marriott Theatre; Season Announced

The Marriott Theatre has announced its 2011 season, which will include the world premiere musical, For the Boys, to run August 17 – October 16.


Based on the movie of the same name, the musical follows a 1940s big-band singer and her entertainer partner, both USO performers whose electrifying stage presence and flair for outrageous comedy captivates troops and civilians alike. Aaron Thielen has adapted the work for the stage, and the score features a hit parade treasures from three decades of popular music, overseen by musical director Dr. Ryan Neson. Marc Robin will direct and choreograph the production.

The company’s season will begin with Guys and Dolls, to run January 26 – March 27. Matt Raftery will direct and choreograph the musical that’s based on stories by Damon Runyon. Also on the theater’s schedule is 42nd Street (March 30 – May 29) to be directed by Rachel Rockwell and choreographed by Tammy Mader; the 1960s mod revue Shout! (June 15-August 14), directed and choreographed by Rockwell; and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (October 16 – January 1, 2012), which will be directed and choreographed by Robin.
