Jedlicka Performing Arts Center (JPAC) will open its 2008-2009 season with the Chicago premiere of Barry Manilow's Copacabana, August 1-16. Dante J. Orfei will take the helm for this production with Jeff Award-nominee, Jimmy Morehead, as musical director.
Copacabana presents the story of Lola as told through the eyes of Stephen, a present day aspiring songwriter whose imagination takes him back in time where he dreams up Lola, fresh off the plane from Tulsa, who arrives in New York with show-biz aspirations.
Paul Nawrocki and Elizabeth Wehrli will lead the cast, which will also feature Cindy Bryk, Lane Halverson, Warren Karas, and Teresa Scalisa. The production will have choreography by Christie Kerr, sets by Michael Nedza, and costumes by Joelle Contorno.
