Million Dollar Quartet to Offer Free May 20 Concert at Harold Washington Library

The cast of Million Dollar Quartet will offer a free concert on Friday, May 20 at 12:15pm in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium at the Harold Washington Library Center. The event will help celebrate the production playing over 1,000 performances.

Million Dollar Quartet, playing at the Apollo Theatre, was inspired by the famed 1956 recording session that brought together Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley — along with Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records. Eric Schaeffer has directed the production, which features a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux.

At the concert, the company will perform some of the show’s rock ‘n roll hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Hound Dog,” and “Great Balls of Fire,” among others. In addition, the cast will take part in a question and answer session about their roles, the music and the staged production.
