Steppenwolf Announces 2009-2010 Young Adults Season

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the 2009-2010 production schedule for its Young Adults department, which will feature adaptations by Nancy Gilsenan and Tanya Saracho.

Saracho’s adaptation of The House on Mango Street, a book by Sandra Cisneros, is a collection of vignettes from Esperanza Cordero, a young girl growing up in one of Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods. Directed by Hallie Gordon, this production will play in the Steppenwolf Upstairs Theatre, October 13-November 1.

Gilsenan’s adaptation of A Separate Peace, based on the book by John Knowles, will play in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre with Jonathan Berry at the helm, February 23-March 14. Set at an all-boys boarding school in New England during World War II, the play is a look into the dark side of adolescence.
