Jez Butterworth's new play The Ferryman, which is currently playing in London's West End, will be transferring to Broadway later this year, at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in October. The full cast and production schedule will be announced later.

Directed by Sam Mendes, The Ferryman opened at the Royal Court Theatre in May 2017, then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for a run that will end on May 19.

Set in Northern Ireland in 1981, Butterworth's play is described as follows: "The Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they will be interrupted by a visitor."
