Arbitration Claim Filed Against Spider-Man Producers

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society has filed an arbitration claim on Thursday against the producers of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, saying they had “failed to pay to Ms. Taymor any royalties for the run of the production.” The show’s producers have not commented on the proceedings.

Taymor was let go from the troubled production in March after a five-month preview period. She has reportedly spent nine years working on the show, and was the show’s director during its troubled preview period. She remains as co-author of the show’s book with Glen Berger.

She is now listed in the credit as “original direction by,” while Philip Wm. McKinley, who succeeded Taymor, is listed as a creative consultant. Since her departure, author and playwright Robert Aguirre-Sacasa has also joined the production as a bookwriter.
