The play is an account of the writer/performer's battle with ovarian cancer. Allen is best known as a journalist, with her essays and reviews appearing in such publications as The New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Esquire, and Good Housekeeping. She is the author of a collection of fables for grown-ups called The Long Chalkboard, illustrated by her husband, Jules Feiffer.
