That Takes Ovaries

That Takes Ovaries is an original piece based on stories from the newly published book, “That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and Their Brazen Acts,” edited by Rivka Solomon. The book is a collection of true stories written by women standing up for themselves, their rights, their bodies and their beliefs. This world premiere performance will include monologues, scenes involving several characters and the uniting thread of song and dance. In the spirit of the book, Friday night performances will be followed by open mike sessions, in which Horizons Theatre Company encourages audience members to tell a story, poem, or song (three minutes or less in duration), that illustrates the use of their own female power, and independence, or “ovaries.”
