About This Show

Yellow Taxi Productions presents Stephen Belber’s Tape.

The play revolves around two former best friends from high school, Jon and Vince, who have a reunion in Lansing, Michigan, where a film festival containing Jon’s latest movie is taking place. Jon is on the verge of having big time success. Vince, by contrast, takes pride in being a volunteer fireman when he really sells dope to make a living. Vince has come all the way from Oakland, California to meet Jon for reasons of his own. Over the course of the evening Vince coerces Jon to reveal that ten years ago he date-raped Amy Randall, a girl they both went out with and proceeds to give a shock when he claims that he has taped their entire conversation. After that he throws Jon off balance again by admitting that he’s invited Amy to have dinner with them that evening. Amy arrives with her own perception about what happened ten years ago, turning the evening into yet another set of unpredictable events.
