New York City
Theatre Under the Stars presents this musical hit about the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The show has fun with the Founding Fathers as they bicker over sectional differences on their way to agreeing on and signing the document that gave birth to our nation. Composed by Sherman Edwards with book by Peter Stone, 1776 won five Tony Awards in 1969 and was revived on Broadway in 1997. Songs include “Sit Down, John,” “Cool, Cool Considerate Men,” “The Lees of Old Virginia” and “He Plays the Violin.”
