VIRTUAL – SCD + Piazzolla 2026

ROMANTICIZING Argentine Tango composer Astor Pantaleon Piazzolla, renowned Harpist, Ann Hobson Pilot and choreographer Leymis Bolanos Wilmott collaborate for the third time for this milestone season. SCD brings visual and emotional accompaniment to Pilot’s inspired arrangement  by the music of Piazzolla for harp, violin and bandoneon, reflecting the composer’s melodies, a contemporary mix of tango music with jazz and classical influences. 

“When I became aware of the music of the composer, Astor Piazzolla, about ten years ago and immediately loved it.  My first major project after my retirement from the Boston Symphony in 2009 was to have arrangements made of his music for violin and harp.  I then made a CD with a bandoneon player in addition to violin and harp.  I always envisioned performing this music with dance and I was thrilled to discover Sarasota Contemporary Dance and their dynamic director Leymis Bolanos – Wilmott.  I was enthralled by her vision and her creativity, and I knew that this would be a perfect fit.  I am thrilled that she felt the same way.” ~ Ann Hobson Pilot

SCD is proud to bring this work back as it was cut short due to covid and has been one of our Leymis favorites.
