ECHOES OF MY BARRIO

In 2025, Tania Vergara traveled to her hometown of Camagüey, where she recorded the calls of the pregoneros–street vendors–who have become essential to the impoverished economy of Cuba. The humble voices of the street reveal the resilience of a people who endure in a spirited, often humorous, and moving performance. "Echoes of My Barrio" began as an excerpt shown at the Ringling Museum's MicroWIP (works-in-progress) program. This will be the full-length premiere of the work.
