The High Wire Gallery and The Philly Fringe presents Sex Acts by Kim Brundidge. One woman’s rambunctious romp through the looking glass in search of the answers to why men and women mate. Set in modern times (the gentrified urban Present masquerading as Paradise) with modern influences–television, religion, music, and even the courts–our main character, Pearl, examines variations on the mating theme. We follow Pearl in her search for answers from traditional sources–her mother, her teachers, her elders, and watch her on her social paths to communion–serial monogomy, marriage, and, of course, divorce. With her we experience the joys of connection, the poetry and pathos of breaking up, the paradox of popular psychology, and the folly in our attempts at intimacy. Directed by Carol Mitchell-Leon.
