A Small Company In America (ASCIA), the theater in residence at New York Institute’s of Technology in Old Westbury, presents Oscar Wilde’s comedy classic, The Importance of Being Earnest. Considered by many to be Wilde’s masterpiece, the play involves the difficulties of two young Edwardian gentlemen to win the love of two proper young women, who each think they are engaged to the same man. The problem of which man is Ernest — as well as earnest — is the source of Wilde’s comedy of manners, marriage, and mistaken identity. The fun is infectious, the humor genuine, and like everything Wilde wrote, full of quotes worth remembering — and repeating! John F. Anderson directs.
