It’s Sardonic European Composer month once again at The Whisky Bar, where Johanna shares stories of her sordid past between rousing interpretations of the music of Jacques Brel and Kurt Weill. Johanna brings her unique brand of performance (one part classical, two parts bathhouse) to the cabaret genre in this raucous evening, as she details how a sweet Midwestern family singer became a trash-talking, run-down club chanteuse; A nasty case of salmonella has something to do with it). It’s not a therapy session. It’s not a bid for a Broadway show. It is Brel, Weill, and Whisky. It’s complicated.
