The Next Step Proves the Passion of Dance and Storytelling.
What was the first Broadway show you went to see? Bring back the electricity that only live entertainment can provide and take The Next Step to a night of song and dance you won’t want to miss!
Created by Jason Marquette and performed by some of the hottest up and coming talent the Big Apple has to offer, The Next Step takes a look back into America’s Musical Theater History, gives a new twist on some classic movie musical numbers, and lands you in the jazz era of Harlem.
Jason believes that dance in theater should not merely be stylized movement, but stories and characters brought to life on stage. “Theater is about wanting something,” Jason says. “It’s about intention. Dance in the theater should take you somewhere. It should be expressive of who these people are and why they are moving. I love to tell stories and I hope that my audience will come along for the ride.”
Jason Marquette’s choreography has been showcased in New York, Philadelphia and Helsinki, Finland. He is also currently choreographing a production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company” at SUNY New Paltz. He most recently spent two weeks in Guayaquil, Ecuador sharing his passion for theater dance and will be returning to Ecuador next year to teach and choreograph a show. The Next Step is his foray into the world of professional choreography that demonstrates his versatility and passion for dance and storytelling.
