New York City
Grammy Award winner Marcus Hummon joins country star Sherrie Austin, and a plethora of theater stars for an amazing night of music. First presented at the O’Neil Theatre Center, the evening is directed by Michael Bush. The Nashville Connection also features Erich Bergen, Cole Burden, Deven May, Brian Charles Rooney, Nancy Slusser, and Louis Tucci. All members of the show are also featured in Marcus Hummon’s new musical Warrior, part of the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival.
The show celebrates the similarities of country and
theater music; the art of storytelling through music that is
personal, intimate, timeless and inately American. There are performances of classic country tunes by artists like Patsy Cline and Roger Miller, along with contemporary artists like Garth Brooks and the evening’s host, Grammy Award-winning composer Marcus Hummon (Rascal Flatts’ "Bless The Broken Road," Wynonna’s "Only Love," Dixie Chicks’ "Cowboy Take Me Away"). The show also features music from country-flavored musicals like Big River and The Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde.
This concert is part of "Broadway at Birdland," a series of Monday and Tuesday concerts featuring top Broadway stars, cabaret performers and songwriters at the legendary Birdland.
