Running July 16 – August 9 at the Paradise Factory Theater (64 East 4th Street), Diamond Mesh Inc.’s Manifestival brings envelope-pushing, “weird” indie theater to downtown NYC, shows include Club 27, a rock & roll cabaret of the music of Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse; Silly William, a real-time chess-fable where dialogue corresponds directly to live board moves; and piss.jpg, a fast-paced, absurd Gen Z-style nod to Waiting for Godot. The festival also showcases My Ghosts, a musical journey fending off inner not-alive critics; How Not to Fund a Honeymoon, a dark comedic heist fresh off its Edinburgh Fringe run; Ruff Ruff Ruff Ruff I’m a Dog, a philosophical clash between Plato and Diogenes; and Songs I Sing in the Shower, a comedic solo show by Danielle MacMath.
