The Knack, roared out of LA in the late 70’s. With their power pop sound and their 60’s looks, many people compared them to the Beatles. They had a monster international hit in the Summer of 1979 as “My Sharona” hit #1 in the US for 6 weeks. They also hit with “Good Girls Don’t.”
The Fixx was a London based new wave band formed by College friends. Their debut CD came out in 1982. But it was their 1983 album Reach The Beach that spawned the top 5 hit “One Thing Leads To Another.” The album went top 10 and Platinum. They released a few more albums until 1991 and then split up but reunited in 1998 with a new studio album.
Missing Persons was an American new wave band formed in 1980 by Warren Cuccurullo, who later went on to join Duran Duran. They are known for their radio hits, “Destination Unknown,” “Words,” and “Walking in L.A.,” which were also big MTV hits.
Naked Eyes is a duo from Britain, comprised of former schoolmates, Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher. Their debut Album from 1983 Burning Bridges featured their cover of the Burt Bacharach song “Always Something There To Remind Me.” It hit the top 10 in the UK and the USA and its video was all over MTV. They also had another hit “Promises Promises.” They soon broke up and Rob ended up as part of the pop duo, Clime Fisher in the late 80’s.
