Having recently completed an extremely successful run at Actor’s Art Theatre in Los Angeles, where both the production and Ariana Johns are under consideration for Ovations Award nominations, Vampingo is making its New York premiere at the Lodestar Theatre. Co-written by Johns and Jolene Adams, it is a tasty, twisted tale of one woman’s perilous fun-house journey.
Alwyn is a bright, ethereal woman with unconventional coping skills, which lead her to a series of ‘Suicidal Tendencies’ meetings. There, she meets a colorful array of characters, each with his or her very own demon. Befriended by a vampire flamingo, Alwyn faces her own shadows before emerging into the light of self-awareness. By turns hilarious, poignant and illuminating, Vampingo provides an entertaining hour of quirky dark fun, with an occasional scream.
Moonbite… A Montage of Radiant Lunacy is a delectable collection of comic vignettes written by Ariana Johns and inspired by the full moon. Within approximately 25 minutes, the sparkling four member ensemble (Kimberly Dillon, Miguel Govea, Doua Moua, Shannan Leigh Reeve) guides audiences through a night-blooming garden of delightful dementia, under the direction of Greg Mullavey.
