About This Show

Valiant is a documentary theatre piece chronicling war of the 20th century. Woven together from word-for-word interviews of women from Japan, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Russia, the United States, Armenia, Hungary, El Salvador and the Philippines, Valiant explores the questions, “Is war an unbreakable cycle rooted in human nature?” and “Can we redeem ourselves?” From victim to perpetrator to peacemaker, these women have fought, struggled and survived. Valiant was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Ensemble and was winner of the New York Fringe Festival Excellence Award in Performance; in addition, Valiant was chosen as one of New York Magazine’s Top 20 shows to see out of 200.

Valiant is presented as part of the Impact Festival.
