About This Show

Based on interviews with Turkish women living in Holland, The Veiled Monologues powerfully reveals the challenges for muslim women as they reckon with issues of intimacy, sexuality and love. In 2002, Adelheid Roosen toured Holland, interviewing women who were all born in an Islamic country but are now living in the Nethlerlands. They talked about intimacy, sexuality and love. Their stories, rituals, beauty and pain were woven into twelve penetrating monologues, a tribute to Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.

The Veiled Monologues is presented as part of the Impact Festival.
