About This Show

The Second Amendment Club, a new play by Peter Morris and directed by Elizabeth Williamson, premieres at the Fashion PlayFest.

The first amendment of the Constitution gives Americans the right to free speech. But when his right to free speech (in the form of access to the website on which he posts a chronicle of his disturbing fantasies) is taken away from him, 18 year-old Martin turns to the second amendment — the right to bear arms. Peter Morris’ The Second Amendment Club is a chilling, controversial play which takes us into the world of a suburban teenager who is becoming more and more alienated from his family, friends, and school. How far will he go to find “some bigger better way of saying NO to this life”?

Elizabeth Williamson’s directing credits include a workshop of Sarah Kane’s
4.48 PSYCHOSIS (Lincoln Center Theater’s Directors Lab), the US premiere of Martin Crimp’s translation of Jean Genet’s THE MAIDS (New York International Fringe Festival 2001), her own adaptation of Chikamatsu’s THE FLOATING WORLD (Lincoln Center Theater’s American Living Room Festival at HERE in 2002), and readings for the emerging playwrights series PlayGround at Berkeley Rep. She will be directing the US Premiere of Michel Azama’s critically acclaimed play THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PIER PAOLO PASOLINI for the Act French Festival in New York this November at the Abingdon Theatre.
