About the Show
A musical based on Steve Lyons’s novel The Gift of Tongues, Saint Heaven is set in Saint Heaven, Kentucky, in 1957. Thom Rivers, a rebellious young doctor, returns home for his father’s funeral, where he falls in love with a black woman preacher who speaks in tongues. Believing her to be suffering from epilepsy, he attempts to treat her. A contemporary gospel/R&B score propels this intimate and heartbreaking love story.
