About This Show

Avalon Theatre of e/Motion presents the world premiere of Movin’ Macbeth, an innovative theatre/dance fusion of Shakespeare’s timeless classic about the lust for power and its bloody repercussions. The production is directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Andrew T. Carter.

This fresh adaptation by Mr. Carter and Celia Braxton combines Shakespeare’s shortest and bloodiest play with an exciting new musical score (and one red apple) in this theatre/dance version of the Bard’s immortal tale about a heroic Scottish general and his ill-fated quest for the throne. In Movin’ Macbeth heightened emotions and breakneck pacing make the conflicts of the play more visceral and immediate. A Gaudí-like set and mask-inspired makeup provide the atmosphere, commissioned music (awarded a Meet the Composer grant) increases the theatricality and Shakespeare’s timeless words supply the drama.

Schedule: From July 9th through the 17th, the show plays every night at 8:30 PM (with the exception of Tuesday, July 13th, which is dark) and also plays at 4PM on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th.
