About This Show

Extended! Now through August 30, with performances every night at 8pm.

GirlFactory presents the world premiere of Maiden America, a
haunting, adrenaline-surged dance-theatre extravaganza where sexuality and patriotism meet.

Welcome to Maiden America, a world of high heels galore, measuring tape circuses, enormous wrapped presents, and mechanical psychiatrists. Enter a factory that ceaselessly produces women as we mirror our own society of constrictions and oblivion. Find out what happens when one woman dares to defy this rigid assembly line. Will her counterparts support her or destroy her? Come with us on humorous shopping sprees, absurd manicure binges, and drunken debutante balls as we explore the minds of women in
America and discover whether the ‘Hollywood ideal’ still survives.

With Barbara King’s “brilliant and surreal” [The Bootleg Press] choreography, and the original music soundtrack composed by James Call and Greg Travis, whose music the New York Observer hails as “appropriately off-kilter,” it will be difficult for any audience to keep their eyes, ears, and minds out of this riveting dance.
