About This Show

New Perspectives Theatre Company presents William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth. Set in medieval Scotland and drawing on ancient Celtic traditions as well as historical and source material, the production proceeds from the notion that Macbeth is aberrant in his world not because of his actions?but rather because of his reactions. In this world, Macbeth is the rightful heir to the throne. So what?s his problem? In a culture steeped in blood feuds and revenge, where the ability to kill without question is the measure of a man/warlord/king, what is the fate of someone forced to act against his nature? Melody Brooks directs this production which examines the actions of literature’s most notorious power couple in the context of their historical reign, and looks at the nature and role of violence in that society and its modern parallels.
