About This Show

January 1986 deals with the break-up of a family over the course of three days against the backdrop of the Challenger disaster. The family’s disintegration is seen through the eyes of Nick, now 30 years old, as he remembers the major turning point in his life, his younger self, and his parents as they were twenty years ago. As the plot unfolds, the traumatic nature of Nick’s memories cause the narrative to fracture. Nick struggles to accept what happened, but sabotages his own efforts by retreating farther and farther into his imagination.

January 1986 is presented as part of the 2007 New York International Fringe Festival.
