About This Show

Henry Horatio Hobson is a tyrannical boot-shop owner who lords his power over his three daughters– Maggie, Alice and Vickey– and his star boothands– Will Mossop and Tubby Wadlow. He taunts his daughters with threatening to keep them unwed, denies the talent of his workers and his drunkenness often leads to fiery rage. But what happens when the power is no longer in his hands?

Part Cinderella, part King Lear, and part Pygmalion, Hobson’s Choice has delighted generations of theatre-goers and is Harold Brighouse’s most well-known play.
