Enough is Enough

About This Show

For more than a century the United States government has claimed sovereign immunity, holding that it could never be sued for the crime of slavery. And so the reparations movement has never been able to get off the ground. Now, in Enough is Enough, an African-American law student, Melanie Waters, has come up with a novel approach to the problem — sue those companies that got their start from slavery! The only problem is the company she chooses to begin with, Northeastern Life Insurance, is owned by Billy Boy Talbert, a larger-than-life figure with a streak of insanity. These two form the center of a play that ultimately includes a holocaust lawyer, an ex-movie star, a right wing talk-show pundit, and a vertically-challenged impersonator of our country’s greatest president, Abraham Lincoln. The comedy not only skewers every target along the way, but ultimately addresses the one question we all know must be answered — just what do we owe?

Enough is Enough is being presented as part of the Impact Festival.
