About This Show

Designers with Dirty Faces, a new play by John Kearns, debuts at Actors Movement Studio’s Fashion PlayFest.

Designers with Dirty Faces is a parody of the gangster-movie genre
popularized by James Cagney, of Hamlet, and of Greek, and Irish myth.

John Kearns is the author of novels, short stories, plays, and poems. His book of short stories, Dreams and Dull Realities, will be published this fall. His
full-length play, Designers with Dirty Faces, had a staged reading at Rocky
Sullivan’s pub in January 2000 and was produced in Woodside, Queens in the
summer of 2003. John has had three of his one-act plays produced. "World
Piece" was performed at the Bowery Poetry Club in November 2003. "The
Importance of Loving Shakespeare" was staged at the Eugene Frankel Theatre
in June 1999 and was a semi-finalist in the 8-Minute Madness Festival in
June 2005. "I Knew You’d Say That!" will take the stage on August 26 and
27, 2005. He has been the Director of the Cold Cuts reading series and
has had excerpts from his plays In the Wilderness and Hanging Questions read there.
