About This Show

The human rights violations that continue today in Iran and Yugoslavia are echoed in the award-winning drama Days and Nights Within by Ellen McLaughlin. Based on the autobiographical account of Erica Wallach in Light at Midnight, the play follows the post-World War II homecoming of a young woman named Elsa, imprisoned by the East German government for espionage. Her fight for freedom forces her to examine the past at the hands of her interrogator who will push the limits of humanity to gain a confession. Wordplay presents this production, directed by Steven Bray, as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.
