Théâtre Trouvé presents Broken Window, an episodic drama in six parts inspired by the works of Samuel Beckett, created and directed by Mercedes Murphy. Staged in the hollowed bones of an old suit factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Murphy leads a cast of ten-strong in the examination of the ache of time past and the grief of lost love.
Broken Window is an original series that tells the classic Greek story of Demeter’s wintry withdrawal into the barren landscape of despair after the inexplicable disappearance of her daughter, Persephone. Hauntingly interwoven with the manias of Beckett’s characters, Broken Window poignantly captures the desperation of Demeter’s search. Through image, movement, and spectacle, each performance aggressively contends with the antics of reality, creating an idiosyncratic pageant of both love and loss.
