About This Show

Year One Productions presents Boris by the Sea, a surrealistic movement-theater adaptation of a series of Russian and English poems by acclaimed Russian-American writer Matvei Yankelevich. Conceived and directed by Daniel Kleinfeld, the production is the hallucinatory story of Boris, an author who speaks no language but has the ability to alter the world around him by using only his imagination. Boris is hunted by a cadre of mysterious neurosurgeons who wish to possess Boris’s unique gift. The story unfolds as an intricate collage of poetry, movement, and a panoramic soundscape of intentionally displaced words and rhythmic, everyday noises.
