About This Show

Based on the turbulent life of novelist, playwright, and political activist James Baldwin, A Prophet Among Them is a new play with music by the Audelco award-winning playwright Wesley Brown. The play bears witness to major moments in Baldwin’s existence, including being confronted by his father, the characters from his novels, the ghosts of Henry James and Harriet Beecher Stowe, Civil Rights activists and finally his friends including playwright Lorraine Hansberry.
