About This Show

Bella, Dotty and Mary have been neighbors and friends since childhood. Although they tell each other – and sometimes the entire neighborhood – everything, each woman has a secret related to their war experience which threatens to tear apart the close ties that they have built over many years. Urban Stages presents The Sweepers, the world-premiere of a new play by John Picardi. Set in Boston at the climax of World War II, the play plunges into the humorous and often touching world of three women, their families, and the Italian-American traditions that keep them together. Frances Hill directs.
