About the Show
Don't miss out on the FIRST play to focus on the NY trial of Lenny Bruce and his FIRST amendment rights.
The time was 1964. The place was New York City. Lenny Bruce, the comedic icon, was facing obscenity charges. The same Lenny Bruce who became a major character in the hit series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel". The same Lenny Bruce who was referenced by Jimmy Kimmel when he was temporarily taken off the air.
SET UP AND SENTENCED: Herbert S. Ruhe, former CIA agent and witness for the prosecution, said right after the trial: "We picked him out of all the performers. I know he was obscene...Yet, in a way, I felt he had to be convicted."
Over sixty years later our right to free reach is more threatened than over. When our right to speak is put on trial our response is:
Don't WATCH What You Say. WATCH great theatre!
