About This Show

Jean Cocteau Repertory continues its 30th anniversary season with Moliere’s The Misanthrope. While Alceste, self-appointed social critic rails against the evils of the word, Celimen, his beloved, revels in its attentions. Fraudulent poets, scandal-mongers, and gossips collude and collide in Moliere’s richly dark and sublimely humorous view of hypocrisy and self deception in 17th century France. This production is translated and directed by Rod McLucas.
