The Misanthrope

Jean Cocteau Repertory continues its 30th anniversary season with Moliere’s The Misanthrope. While Alceste, self-appointed social critic rails against the evils of the word, Celimen, his beloved, revels in its attentions. Fraudulent poets, scandal-mongers, and gossips collude and collide in Moliere’s richly dark and sublimely humorous view of hypocrisy and self deception in 17th century France.
