About the Show

Slam Frank, the musical comedy that reimagines Holocaust diarist Anne Frank as “Anita Franco,” a genderqueer Latinx girlboss spitting rhymes like Lin-Manuel Miranda, will open for a full off-Broadway run. The show begins previews at the Orpheum Theatre on September 17 ahead of an official opening night October 4. Performances are scheduled through November 30.

Andrew Fox and Joel Sinensky conceived, composed, and co-wrote the show, which was inspired by the viral Twitter question, “Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?” In response, they have created an “intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin hip-hop musical,” that satirizes the worst excesses of the institutional theater during the Great Awokening. Sam LaFrage returns to direct after helming last year’s developmental run at Asylum NYC.
