About This Show

Jean Cocteau Repertory presents Oedipus the King. Who is King Oedipus? Destiny holds this terrible secret. With his beautiful loving wife by his side, Oedipus searches his past while every episode brings a new helper in the search. Creon, Teiresias, Jocasta, Messenger, Herdsman, and Oedipus himself, each contributes a clue until the secret is revealed. Some call this play one of the world’s brilliant detective stories, others think it the preeminent foundling story, and many consider it Sophocles’ masterpiece and the greatest of all classical tragedies. Without a doubt, it is a powerful voyage into the human psyche with tremendous tragic consequences. Eve Adamson directs.
