New York City
In Aristophanes’ comic fantasy, the women of Athens, led by the fearless Lysistrata, initiate the ultimate anti-war protest to coerce their husbands into signing a peace treaty with Sparta. Writer/director David Lee Jiranek brings a contemporary spin to this favorite ancient Greek comedy by juxtaposing the action in a not-too-distant and darkly comedic future. In this war, the battle will be decided on the home front.
