New York City
Set in the contemporary U.S., a society increasingly riven by questions of morality, personal privacy and just who has “rights” in literal life-and-death issues — the recent case of Terri Schiavo foremost among them — Beyond Reason tells the story of Daniella, a young woman haunted by the recent death of her late fiancée. Shunning the well-meaning overtures of those closest to her, she opts instead to seek comfort in the arms of a stranger she encounters in a low-life strip club. As this new relationship begins to take shape, she reaches an epiphany just days before her fiancée’s funeral: How much is she supposed to heal after such a loss?
