About the Show

Mark Morris Dance Group celebrates the New Year with a month of performances and special events.

The program for all nine performances features the world premiere of a new work performed to Bach’s Italian Concerto. In addition to the premiere, the program includes The Argument (1999), Sang-Froid (2000) and Love Song Waltzes (1989). The Argument is danced to Schumann’s Fünf Stücke im Volkston (Five Pieces in Folk Style) and centers on the tumultuous relationships of three couples. Sang-Froid is set to nine pieces by Frédéric Chopin. Love Song Waltzes, a companion piece to Morris’ New Love Song Waltzes (1982), is danced to Johannes Brahms’ Liebesliederwalzer, op. 52.
