The Nance
$37.00 - $132.00
Nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Nathan Lane.
Tony-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane’s newest play, The Nance, follows a 1930s headline “nance” performer named Chauncey Miles (Nathan Lane) working New York City’s burlesque scene. Nances were stereotypically campy and effeminate homosexual characters and they were extremely popular in 1930s burlesque. Miles, however, also happens to be an honest-to-God homosexual. Melding together burlesque and drama, The Nance contrasts the comedy of Miles’ stage life with the very unfunny dangers of his clandestine off-stage exploits.
