Based on the true story of Motown founder Berry Gordy and his rise to fame as one of America’s most influential music moguls, Charles Randolph-Wright (Dreamgirls) directs Broadway’s Motown The Musical. The show follows Gordy through the 1960s as he launches the careers of music legends like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. In the process, he also transforms himself into the man who shaped pop culture and tore down social and racial barriers with a new soulful sound. Motown: The Musical features a book written by Gordy himself and a score compilation from the iconic Motown catalogue, including “Do You Love Me,” “My Girl,” and “You’re All I Need To Get By.”
