About This Show

Andrew Lippa is a composer and lyricist but, despite several court orders and a poorly received PBS documentary, he can’t stay away from singing his own songs. Lippa’s concert at The Metropolitan Room features him at the piano, singing numbers from his latest shows and his ever-expanding trunk of songs that either (a) just showed up, or (b) got cut from other shows and are looking for a home. The capper of the evening is the unveiling of songs from Lippa’s newest musical, Asphalt Beach.

Joining Lippa in this endeavor are grand divas Ana Gasteyer (Wicked, Saturday Night Live), Carly Jibson (Hairspray), Julia Murney (Wicked, Lennon) and Kate Reinders (Wicked, Gypsy). Asphalt Beach tellse the story of what happens to the girls at Our Lady of the Suppressed Desire Academy for Rambunctious Young Girls – a Catholic reformatory school in Asphalt Beach, New Jersey.
